I read your article from last year on Boston’s loss of MSNBC on its regular cable. That is now the case in Sarasota where I am a comcast subscriber through my home association. We can get one free cable box, but of course it requires going to them to get it and will only work on one tv in the house. When I asked Comcast why I couldn’t get MSNBC since I am a full subscriber, I was told that MSNBC had asked to be moved. Do you know whether that is correct? Did you ever get answers to the good questions you posed at the end of your letter quoted in the Boston cable article?

I read your article from last year in Boston. Last night Comcast removed MSNBC from Atlanta’s basic cable. We have the digital package and it was moved to the next tier. I called and talked to someone in a call center in Mexico. They told me we could get MSNBC if we shelled out an added $20 a month, but they have a deal where we could get HBO (a premium channel) for just $7.99 a month. I’m no conspiracy theorist, but come on guys! I went on line and chatted with someone who used weird phrases like: thanks for bringing this to our knowledge. BRINGING THIS TO OUR KNOWLEDGE!!!! I can see that I’m not going to get anywhere with Comcast, since they’ve obviously done this in other cities, so I’ll be cancelling by phone, internet, cable bundle and find other alternatives. But I want to get the word out there! Did you ever get MSNBC back in Boston?

The only way I was able to get MSNBC back in Boston was to switch to Verizon Fios (a service that the Monkey and I couldn’t be happier with)!
