I wrote that post back in August 2008. At that time, Rachel Maddow was making the leap from radio to her own primetime television program. She was certainly a media darling then. Olbermann signed a huge contract himself around the same time: <a href="http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/10/msnbc-olbermann-renew-contract/" rel="nofollow">.

"Perhaps MSNBC was attempting to leverage the increased popularity of Keith Olbermann and (Air America alum) Rachel Maddow "

say what?

Increased popularity compared to .......?

What market share are they picking up?

It is all about “MONEY” each time comcast removes a broadcast they expect to get more cusomers who have basic cable to convert to the ‘MORE EXPENSIVE’ digital. You DO PAY MORE - YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR EACH BOX FOR EACH TV AND IF YOU HAVE BASIC CABLE YOUR COST PER MONTH GOES UP ABOUT 35%.
Comcast should be investigated - maybe one of our 'GREAT CONGRESSMAN"
will look into this - NOT !
